Do you need an enhanced DBS to work in care?Individuals planning to work in a care home will require an enhanced DBS check. Enhanced DBS checks are designed for those planning to work in a support or care role for vulnerable adults or children, which is why they are necessary for the care sector.

Can I work in care without a DBS?All employees working within a care home will automatically need to have an Enhanced DBS Check. This is because staff are likely to be engaging in regulated activity with vulnerable adults.

Do I need a DBS before applying to work with Lighthouse Bespoke Healthcare?Employing organisations have a responsibility to ensure that positions being appointed to in the NHS are eligible under the current legal provisions before requiring workers and volunteers to have a DBS check.

Do I need any qualifications to become a Support Worker?While a Diploma in Health and Social Care at level 2 or 3 would be a positive for anyone applying to work at Hft as a support worker, it’s not essential - a willingness to work towards one is definitely welcome.

What kind of experience do I need to be a Support Worker?You don’t need any specific experience or qualifications to start work at Hft as a Support Worker – more important to us is that you are caring, enthusiastic, patient and a great communicator – and that you share our commitment to supporting people with learning disabilities to get the most out of life.

What does the job interview consist of?Your interview will take place with the hiring manager and will last around 45 minutes. This is an opportunity to further explore your suitability for the role and another chance for you to find out more about us. You will be asked a series of values based questions and we’ll ask you to undertake short literacy and numeracy assessments. You will need to show your ID documents and any relevant qualification certificates.

Can I work set hours?It depends on the role. While this will likely be possible for office-based roles, many of the people we support require round-the-clock support and, as we take a person-centred approach to support, our rotas are based around their needs. Individual vacancies should indicate what the working hours will be for particular roles – but if there is doubt, we provide contact information for the people best able to answer questions, so why not give them a quick call?

How long does it take to be approved for care service?Following the initial care assessment we always aim to offer a seamless service in ensuring that we are able to commence care as soon as.
